Nitrogen Generator North Yorkshire
A delayed nitrogen delivery can hold up production even when the rest of the plant is ready. Search Air, Atlas Copco Premier Distributor, specifies, installs and maintains on-site nitrogen generation for industrial sites across North Yorkshire. We assess the process first, then match the generator, compressed-air supply and air treatment to the purity, flow and pressure you need.
We have been an Atlas Copco Premier Distributor since 2002. Our role is to give you a workable specification and a clear route from site survey to installed plant.
Specifying a Nitrogen Generator in North Yorkshire
The generator is only one part of the installation. Stable output depends on the process demand, available compressed-air capacity, air quality, operating pattern and space around the equipment. We review these together because an undersized compressor or unsuitable dryer can restrict nitrogen output even when the generator itself is correctly selected.
Our range of nitrogen and oxygen generators includes pressure swing adsorption and membrane systems. We can assess existing compressed-air equipment or specify the generation package with the compressor, filtration, drying, receiver capacity and controls required for the duty.
That assessment starts with measured demand. Required nitrogen purity, peak and average flow, delivery pressure, operating hours and acceptable residual oxygen all affect the equipment choice. Specifying a higher purity than the process needs can increase compressed-air demand and operating cost without improving the finished product.
PSA or Membrane Generation?
For a first assessment, membrane generation suits many moderate-purity duties. Pressure swing adsorption, or PSA, is normally considered when the process needs higher purity or tighter control of residual oxygen. The final recommendation remains conditional on measured process requirements.
Atlas Copco explains that PSA uses alternating vessels filled with carbon molecular sieve. Membrane technology separates gases as they pass through hollow fibres. Both methods require a suitable supply of clean, dry compressed air, so we check the upstream system before confirming generator capacity.
The practical benefits of on-site nitrogen generation depend on your current supply arrangement and usage pattern. A steady industrial demand can support a strong case for on-site generation. Occasional or very low consumption can leave delivered gas as the better option, and that decision can change if production volumes move.
What Our Installation Service Includes
We take the project from operating data to a maintained installation. The normal sequence is:
- We record purity, residual-oxygen, flow, pressure and duty-cycle requirements.
- We assess the compressor, dryer, filtration, receiver capacity, ventilation and available floor space.
- We recommend PSA or membrane technology and provide clear, agreed pricing. We identify and quote work outside the agreed scope separately.
- We install the equipment, then agree the service and maintenance requirements.
Where the existing air system needs work, our air compressor services in North Yorkshire cover the compressed-air assessment and air treatment that support reliable generator performance. Our engineers work with genuine Atlas Copco parts and the service requirements of the complete installation, rather than treating the generator as an isolated machine.
Nitrogen Safety Starts With the Site Risk Assessment
Nitrogen is colourless and odourless, so a release may not give people an obvious warning. The Health and Safety Executive warns that nitrogen can displace oxygen and create an asphyxiation hazard.
Ventilation, monitoring and other controls must follow the site risk assessment and the way nitrogen could be released or accumulate. We account for the generator location, pipework route, discharge points and occupied areas during the installation assessment. Site controls still depend on the process and the building.
Is On-Site Generation a Good Fit?
North Yorkshire has established precision engineering, food and drink production and a wider manufacturing base, as identified by the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority. These sectors can have nitrogen applications, but the sector name alone does not determine the correct system.
The better test is your measured consumption, purity requirement, delivery pressure and reliance on stored-gas deliveries. If those figures show a suitable duty, we can produce a generator specification and installation scope. Search Air became an Employee Ownership Trust in 2024, giving our engineers a direct stake in the long-term service relationship.
Request a North Yorkshire Site Assessment
Send Search Air your current nitrogen usage, required purity, flow demand, delivery pressure, operating hours and any planned production changes. We will arrange an assessment for your North Yorkshire site, check the compressed-air supply and prepare a recommendation with clear, agreed pricing.
