Nitrogen Generator Rotherham
Search Air, Atlas Copco Premier Distributor since 2002, specifies, installs and maintains on-site nitrogen generators for industrial sites in Rotherham and the surrounding area. We assess your actual nitrogen demand, required purity, operating pressure and existing compressed-air system before recommending equipment.
The result is a specification based on your process, not an oversized generator or an arbitrary purity figure.
Nitrogen Supply Built Around Your Process
On-site generation gives your site control over nitrogen production at the point of use. It can reduce dependence on scheduled cylinder or bulk deliveries and remove the handling associated with stored supplies. Our nitrogen and oxygen generators service covers the complete system, including:
- Measurement of nitrogen flow, pressure and usage patterns
- Compressed-air capacity and quality assessment
- PSA or membrane generator selection
- Air treatment, storage and distribution requirements
- Installation and commissioning
- Planned service and maintenance
Rotherham forms part of a South Yorkshire economy with recognised specialisation in basic and fabricated metals, machinery and advanced manufacturing, according to the region’s economic analysis. Each application still needs to be assessed on its own operating requirements. The local sector mix does not tell us the purity, pressure or flow your process needs.
What We Need to Specify the Generator
Set Purity From the Process Outcome
Purity should be set by the cut quality, material condition, product stability or other process result you need. Specifying more purity than the application requires increases the volume of compressed air needed to produce the nitrogen.
We establish the acceptable residual oxygen level from the process requirement. We then size the generator around measured demand, including peaks, shift patterns and planned production changes. This avoids paying to produce a gas specification that does not improve the finished result.
Our guide to the benefits of on-site nitrogen generation explains where local production can remove supply and handling constraints.
Choose PSA or Membrane Technology
Atlas Copco describes pressure swing adsorption, or PSA, as using alternating vessels filled with carbon molecular sieve. Membrane generators separate gases through hollow fibres using differential permeation.
Membrane generation is generally considered for moderate-purity duties. PSA is considered where the process needs higher purity or tighter control of residual oxygen. The final choice remains conditional on the measured process requirement, flow profile and compressed-air cost.
Both technologies need a suitable supply of clean, dry compressed air. We check the compressor, dryer, filtration and available capacity as part of the assessment. A generator cannot deliver a stable result if its feed-air system is poorly matched.
From Site Survey to Commissioning
We begin by reviewing current nitrogen consumption and the equipment using it. Where operating data is incomplete, we identify what must be measured before sizing the system.
Our proposal then defines the generator technology, capacity, air treatment, receiver requirements, controls and installation scope. We provide clear, agreed pricing. Any work outside the agreed plan is identified and quoted separately.
Our engineers install and commission the system, confirm the operating settings and explain the routine checks required by your team. Ongoing service can be coordinated with our wider air compressor services in Rotherham, so the generator and its feed-air system are assessed together.
Safe Nitrogen Generation on Site
Nitrogen requires proper release and ventilation controls. The Health and Safety Executive warns that nitrogen can displace oxygen and create an asphyxiation hazard.
Ventilation, monitoring and other controls must follow the site risk assessment and reflect where nitrogen could escape or accumulate. We account for plant-room layout, discharge points and access during system planning. Your site procedures and risk controls must then govern operation.
Is On-Site Generation the Right Fit?
A generator is worth assessing when nitrogen demand is regular enough to support the equipment and your process benefits from local production. Low or highly irregular consumption may not justify the investment. That decision depends on measured usage and the full installed scope.
To arrange a Rotherham site assessment, send us your required flow, pressure, operating hours, current supply method and target process outcome. We will review the existing compressed-air system and provide a specification with clear, agreed pricing for the appropriate next step.
